It is a neutered male Portuguese Water Dog that was partially chosen because of Malia Obama's alergies.Due to its fleecy coat of minimally-shedding hair, it is considered a hypoallergenic dog breed. In August 2013, Bo was joined by Sunny, a female dog of the same breed.
Bred by Martha and Art Stern of Amigo Portuguese Water Dogs in Boyd, Texas, Bo is a son of "Watson" of the Rader family in Pittsburgh's Ambridge suburb and "Penny", belonging to Art and Martha Stern. Bo is one of a litter nine that was named "Hope and Change", in honor of Obama's victory.

Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to
The Sun is in LibraBo is one of the sleekest, finest and most beautiful specimens of his species. This is what you need to say to Bo every day and he will love it. Of course Bo understands your every word. Anyway it doesn’t really matter because the tone that you use when communicating with your much-loved pet is a soft, soothing tone as required by such a refined person (ooops animal). Bo may think that he is human but he needs to be reminded occasionally that he is not. Why? If you do not set some kind but firm limits Bo will expect to accompany you everywhere you go. It is true that he does not like to be left alone, but you must convince him of the necessity. Otherwise you may choose a companion for young Bo, knowing that this beautiful creature needs to relate. Think of Noah’s Ark. Your Libran pet will want a mate - whether a cat, dog, rabbit, ferret, hamster, frog or even a more unusual pet such as a deer, snake, or spider. If you don’t want to have more than one pet, then human company will suffice. Fortunately Bo is a little fickle in his affections and so any company is likely to be acceptable. If you live in a large household then Bo gladly melds into the surroundings and contentedly soaks up the atmosphere, as long as it is not too boisterous.
The Sun is Square JupiterIn astrology the outer planets are considered highly influential when they draw close to the personal points in a birth chart. Here the positive planet Jupiter is affecting your pet's personality. If Bo is born with a sunny and extroverted personality then this larger than life planet will emphasize these traits. Hence Bo is likely to be more bouncy, playful and attention seeking than [his/her1] counterparts. If you enjoy these qualities then you will delight in your pet's exuberance. If your pet has been born under the influence of a more introverted Zodiac Sign then you are likely to notice the difference between him and other members of his species. For instance your Earth Sign pet may not be as stodgy and quiet as his cohorts. Alternatively he may be twice as stubborn. This planet works to magnify traits, showing your pet in his best light most of the time, but not always. Generally speaking others are likely to fall for his charms as well. This is the dog whose friends and family members shower with gifts and attention. Strangers may also find it hard to resist Bo's natural charisma. If you want to compete in the show arena, on the race course or in any competition, then Bo is likely to turn heads and win prizes. Afterall the planet Jupiter is associated with the company of Kings and other worldly rewards.
Most pets display so many humanlike traits and emotions it s easy to forget they re not gifted with the English language and then get snubbed when we talk to them and they don t say anything back.
The Sun is in LibraYour charming Libran pet likes a tranquil and clean environment. Like his human counterparts, Bo enjoys interaction with other living beings, but only if they are civilized. This pet does not respond well to aggression. Therefore a quiet lifestyle with few demands is the order of the day. Bo likes to be able to choose his lifestyle. This is the cat who regally demands to be let in and out, and then again in and out of the door. He is the dog who would prefer to take you for a pleasant walk, taking time to sniff each delectable (to the canine nose that is) scent along the way. Grooming is an essential part of each day, to maintain a sense of balance and well being. Caged pets need their nests cleaned on a regular basis. Your pet may not be a thoroughbred but he needs to enjoy a top breed lifestyle. It is likely that Bo prefers company. Like the other Air Signs (Gemini and Aquarius) your Libran pet likes the stimulation of relating to other animals and pets.
The kind man feeds his beast before sitting down to dinner
The Sun is in LibraBo is a fussy eater for many reasons. Firstly he enjoys the finer things in life, fine food being on the top of the list. This is the cat that delights in the little gourmet treats, or the dog that thrives on quality meat and bones. If your pet is a horse then you need to feed him as you would a thoroughbred. The other reason that your pet is fussy is because he likes to know that you are making him a priority. You may think that Bo could not possibly discern whether or not you are prioritizing his diet in this manner, but just try providing something cheaper on the menu and see what unravels. Your pet, no matter what type, enjoys peaceful and harmonious environs, particularly when it comes to feed times. A Libran animal can be the ultimate pampered pet and thrive on it! If you are familiar with the story of "The Lady and the Tramp" then think of the pampered pooch Lady and you will get the idea. The positive side to this is that Bo is likely to be a willing candidate for any grooming, and in fact needs regular attention in this way. If an animal can get a skin condition or a disease related to stress then your Bo can. Therefore you need to make time to spend quality time and money on him.
Lots of people talk to animals.... Not very many listen, though.... That s the problem.

Bo is easy to train as long as you create a clear rules and offer lots of praise. Make room for Bo and he will flourish in any training environment. In fact Bo may charm all of his teachers. On the contrary boisterous and competitive environments are counterproductive to Bo learning anything. A younger Bo may benefit from the company of an older, and gentle, animal. This "mentor" does not necessarily need to be of the same species. The main requirement is kind and loving attention and the setting of a good example. Your pet may also benefit from a mate, a companion of the opposite sex with whom he can share learning and life experiences. Bo may also form a strong bond with one owner, one member of the family. This person can gently guide Bo through his paces and finds a loyal and faithful companion. As Bo is so eager to please, he is a valuable, and decorative, member of any training group – a real charmer.

Bo likes an owner (owners) with a calm and loving demeanour, someone who respects individuality and can show who is the boss, while also being empathetic. Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, Scorpio, Cancerian and Piscean owners are likely to be compatible with the needs of the Bo. However, Bo is likely to clash with the Masculine Zodiac Signs of Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
